Productive Learning

Productive learning is life-long learning- whether formal or informal- to equip Filipinos with functional literacy and life skills for them to become productive, responsible, and globally-competent citizens.
FH’s programs aim to foster a love for learning starting with the three Rs (reading, writing and arithmetic). As children grow into young adults, they are provided digital and non-digital platforms to help them jumpstart their career paths.
FH also works with teachers, parents, duty bearers, and education stakeholders so that every Filipino may have better access to inclusive and quality education.

Learning Initiatives:
Reading and Numeracy Remediation Project
This was piloted in 2022 to help address learning poverty and support the Department of Education’s (DepEd) Basic Education and Learning Continuity Plans after the COVID-19 pandemic. By 2023, it has supported more than 2,000 learners develop grade-level reading and/or numeracy proficiency.
Career guidance
FH helps guide junior and senior high students in choosing a field best aligned with their skills and interests through a combination of digital and in-person approaches. Activities include workshops to develop soft skills, RIASEC and personality assessments, practice job interviews, and FH’s online resource hub and community: TrabaHunters.
Partners include the Department of Education, TESDA, DOLE-PESO, and the Federation of Career Guidance Advocates Network (FCGAN) Philippines.
TVET promotion
TVET or technical-vocational education and training is under middle-level skills development, and a pathway to decent employment for graduating senior high school students with limited capability to pursue tertiary education.
FH promotes TVET for out of school youth through the Child Vocational Sponsorship Fund (CVSF), which provides financial, and/or scholarship support and soft skills training.
Educational assistance
FH links youth to scholarship opportunities with partners so that they can pursue or continue tertiary education. Partners include the Union Church of Manila, Gokongwei Brothers Foundation, and Black & Veatch.
Promotion of Alternative Delivery Modes and Flexible Learning Options
Part of FH’s capacity building for school partners is the reinforcement of Alternative Delivery Modes and Flexible Learning Options (ADM-FLOs) so that children in low-resource communities with limited access to formal education, those at-risk of dropping out, or those affected by disasters can have access to basic education.
School governance support and capacity building
In partnership with DepEd, FH facilitates training to encourage participation of local government officials, teachers, school heads, parents and caregivers, and other education stakeholders in providing access to quality education. Examples of training include the strengthening of Supervised Neighborhood Play and development of School Improvement Plans.
