Providing opportunities with the Gokongwei Brothers Foundation for STEM-oriented youth

Every child deserves to have an education and eventually decent jobs and stable lives. Food for the Hungry, Inc. Branch Office (FHBO) wants to make this happen for its supported youth with the help of the Gokongwei Brothers Foundation (GBF). The two joined hands early this year to carry out several education interventions, one of which is GBF’s Iskolar ni Juan. The program offers STEM-oriented youth with subsidized technical – vocational education and employment in one of the Universal Robina Corporation offices so they can forge a better future.
To encourage FH youth to apply to Iskolar ni Juan, FHBO’s Area Program held an orientation last August 29, 2023. The event reached an estimated 70 graduating senior high school students as well as current and former FH-sponsored youth. FHBO will support interested youth as they prepare for GBF’s screening process by organizing a two-day soft skills workshop by Education Technical Specialist Prudencia Sanoy.
Beyond this virtual event, FHBO will actively identify possible candidates for Iskolar ni Juan.
